Lemons!

Savoured a lovely home-made green smoothie breakfast consisting of  nothing but pure healthy plant fuel : ripe organic pears, lots and lots flat leaf parsley, spinach from the back yard and water. This would of been a 100% perfect sublime concoction if only I added one vital ingredient. Can you guess? The wondrous lemon of course!

Have your cake and eat it too!

200g spelt flour (or wheat and gluten-free flour)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarb of soda
75g butter / sunflower oil
1 tbsp lemon zest (2 lemons)
1 tbsp poppy seeds
75ml agave syrup
1 small cup of strong green jasmine tea, cooled
2 eggs or vegan alternative

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/gas 4.
2. Sift the flour, baking powder and bicarb into a bowl. Add the lemon zest, poppy seeds and mix.
3. Add the butter in small blobs and rub in with your fingertips to make a kind of breadcrumb texture.
4. Combine the agave syrup and green tea. Whisk the eggs, add to the syrup and then add this mixture to the flour. Combine well and transfer to a greased loaf tin (21cm x 11cm is ideal).
5. Bake for 50-60 minutes, although check as baking times vary according to ovens. You'll know the loaf is done when a toothpic comes out clean.
6. Combine the juice of the two lemons and a little agave syrup and pour over the top of the loaf, particularly where there are cracks so it can seep in. Allow the loaf to cool before turning out and resting on a wire rack.

Versatile jojoba oil

•For moisturiser, add a few drops of jojoba oil to your lotion and apply it to your skin. It will help to balance the sebum of the skin by moisturising dry skin and lessening oil production in oily skin.

•To keep the skin moisture whole day, just apply the jojoba oil directly to the skin.

•To remove the makeup, just soak a cotton ball in the oil and wipe them away. After that, take out the remaining oil from your face with the help of a moist tissue.

•Take few drops of jojoba oil and apply it to the lips to get rid of dry and chapped lips.

•Before showers, apply jojoba oil on your body as it hydrates the skin and also increases blood flow.

•To treat acne spots mix 1 tsp. of jojoba oil with five drops of tea tree oil. Soak a cotton swab in the mixture and apply it to the skin where the breakout occurs. Do this thrice a day.

October 4th Balance

Do not make unimportant things important, nor concentrate on trifles at the expense of vital matters, or you will hamper your progress. Impulsive actions that are not in keeping with one's duties are undesirable. --Paramahansa Yogananda, in a "Para-gram"

Halva-like Goodness!

Combined some soaked organic and fair trade sesame seeds with dried fruit(with citrus peels:) and raw cacao powder to make the most deliciously-indulgent chocolatey fix ever(think of a healthy chocolate orange but nicer:). Sesame seeds are a excellent plant-source of Ca, essential fats, amino acids, Fe and feel-good chemicals to beat away the seasonal blues!

We need more Peter Tatchell's in this World, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

One of the very few living folk that one has admired from afar for mamy years has finally been acknowledged and honored recently in the form of a blue plaque(Normally bestowed to people that have passed away first)outside his London home. Peter has fought and campaigned tirelessly for human rights and justice for decades and this simple gesture given by the people makes me incredibly-proud of him and others that selflessly give their time to promote peace and harmony throughout the world. We need more Peter Tatchells in the world! I'm very happy for him and a great day for unity and justice. Other folks I greatly admire include the Liberty campaigner and founder. Joanna Lumley for putting her TV actress fame to good use to highlight the Gurka's campaign for justice in their noble efforts in the world war.
